Alex, of course we worry about you!
Thanks for explaining that your truck load of inhalers werejust lots of different trial ones...I couldn't understand your chest doctor expecting you to take all of those and remember which ones were which!

Asthma is such a complicated condition at the best of times. I am glad they have now got it sorted for you.

You sound like you suffer from allergic asthma and the type which is triggered by the cold, which is obviously a pity as I know you love your ski-ing.

It is perfectly natural to go ages with little or no symptoms, then, bang! It hits you again when you were least expecting it.

Just be really religious about always checking you have your reliever inhaler with you, even if you are in a 'well' patch. OK.

Nice chatting, have a good day now!

Sus

Hey!
Im not at all the different ones at the same time, its just that it took my asthma doctor a while to find the right treatment because at some point he figured my ashtma was not controled. I got all of these over the last few months and i also had singulair, but then we cut everything and ended up where we started, purple advair, and then i used to be on white ventoline, but then he was like hm not really working on u anymore because i like overdosed every time i had an attack because 2 puffs werent enough i had to take like 10. Now im taking Maxair autohaler which works fine, and it is blue. I have mild to moderate asthma, i think its pretty mild compared to a lot of people on the board. I dont exactly understand my asthma because it was really bad this winter, then it was extremely unusually good for a couple of months and now its getting bad again. I do hyperventilate once in a while, it sucks. Dont worry about me :-) Have a nice day!

Alex....why are you on 7 different inhalers?

I have blue ventolin and purple advair, I did have green serevent but just ditched that.

I am chronic severe and controlled on just 2.

How on earth can you puff your way through that lot without hyperventilating.

Seems majorly crazy...and you're so young to be on all thbose meds......talk this over, Alex!

Hehe, i have a bigilion different colors!
I have a yellow with orange cap, grey with red cap, white, blue, purple, green, and orange. Talk about confusingness, sometimes i forget which ones are which but i know the blue one and the purple one. I think it would be fun if you could design your own inhaler, but of course safety comes first therefore i think its safest that the reliever stays blue because in emergencies thats the one that u have to use (or thats the way it is for most people)

I agree with sus, most people (asthmatic and non asthmatic) find inhalers complicated anyway, without confusing people any more by putting different colours and patterns and stuff.

Maya xxx :-)

Please be careful not to overly disguise the inhalers. ~The wonderful thing is a blue ventolin inhaler is like a universally recogniseable object these days. If you start bringing out pink, yellow, spotty, stripey ones it is going to be harder for an asthmatic to recognise which one is their reliever etc. I have a blue one, a green one, and a purple one...there are also orange ones, white with a blue, brown or red bit on, all shades of orange and browns. I think inhalers are colourful enough anyway and at least we all know what they are for with this colour coding. There are also so many different devices now, generally you are prescribed which kind suits you the best. They are not just boring old inhalers any more, but life savers. If you want a candy bar gadget, change your mobile phone.
If you want to decorate yours, buy a pack of stickers from Woolies!!! xx

to vaidehi,
this is an excelent idea! i hav just found out i hav asmtha and the thought of havin to carry a bleary blue inhaler round is horrible. i am 12 and i'm sure it'll be a big hit. it could be like a case to clip over your inhaler like a phone case and maybe you could have a cord attached to put it round ur neck

Hi everyone,
I am a design student and am designing a gadget which can be attached to your inhaler or any pert of your body- like a bracelet, watch, clip or sticker, etc. This object has a chip inserted in it which holds your medical records and allergies and medications very integral at times of an emergency and they can be easily accessed by the medical personal attending to you in order to provide efficient medication. In order for this object to be acceptible and diserable I really need your help. This product is specifically targetetted towards people within the age-group of 5-15 years so if you fall in this age group, or are a parent of a child in this age gropu please tell me your likes and dislikes. What would you expect out of a product like this. What kind of a look would you like it to have? what colour what shape? what information would you like it to have? would it be nice if it was more than a gadget you carry about and forget or would you like it to be interactive? let me know your suggestions and please help me out to design this product which i think would prove to be very helpful in the near future with advancing technology.
Thanks a lot and i look forward to your exciting responsesThank you!!
