its understandable that you hyperventilate during asthma attacks, they can be quite scary. Hyperventilation is your body's way of trying to get more oxygen in and to maintain oxygen levels however its not good to keep hyperventilating after the asthma attack has stopped because it can lower your carbon dioxide levels which is why you get tingly/numb lips, hands and feet as well as headaches, dizzyness/lightheadedness -just generally not feeling good. Though this would settle once you have calmed down so don't worry. Maybe you should go to your GP and see if he/she can arrange for you to learn some breathing exercises to reduce/stop hyperventilating.
