:o *can't believe how far down the list camping's slipped* *is really pleased* I've made £8 for asthma uk just by having a family copper jar. It doesn't sound much but still, it's all in 1ps and 2ps (and a really easy way to raise money). Planning to send off when the £20 mark is reached. Was also bagpacking for great ormond street yesterday and one lady gave me £20 that she found outside! I couldn't believe it! How is everyone? Oh and also pleased as punch cos the asthma's behaved itself through the 'big freeze', which is fab as cold weather usually kicks it off for me x |

I can't find the thread, but I was thinking about the 'you know you have asthma when' thread. Soo, you know you have asthma when you take nebs on school trips (currently applicable to me) or if you've ever needed an ambo on a school trip (ahem, has been applicable once in the past...) hehe, hope everyone's okay x |

I hope i do come out with a different diagnosis! I also have to have physio and they've added an orange inhaler which is just more of the actual steroids in my sertide because they didn't want to up that because of the levels of severent. I feel a little guilty though apparently people wait like over a year to see this man, but no not me, woops! And i had an allergy test which had shown im allergic to house dust mites and pollen and worst of all my grans in hopsital. She had a major bowel op which was a lot bigger than planned and shes come out of it with a cathether and stoma so not so great at the moment, sorry for such a moany post i hope everyone else is in a better mood! |

Hi Annie, The Royal Brompton are great, they are a tertiary referral centre like I mentioned in my post on the main Asthma UK board, they will do alot of tests and they are the experts asthma wise. Some people who go there with difficult asthma come out with a completely different diagnosis. I am surprised they have referred you onto RBH this early on but I guess its better to try and see whats going on sooner than later. There are alot of conditions which mimic asthma or make your asthma worse, and somewhere like RBH will be able to see if that is the case. If you want to discuss this further, feel free to PM me on the main asthma UK board. Try not to worry, whatever has been decided has been in your best interests. Simi x |

Grrr i hate this! I went to see the consultant today and she ws really nice and everything but like everone else has no clue what to do! She has referred me to this other consultant from the Royal Brompton and added me to his clinic which was apparently overflowing, and its next week, im really worried now. When a consultant refers you on after the first visit somethng must be wrong Hows everyone else??? |

The thing with choosing subjects for 6th form is that youve kinda got to think youre going to be doing more than about 10 GCSEs worth of work in 3 or 4 subjects, so its better to pick something youre likely to do well in and something you like, its not really the time to take the risk and pick random A Levels especially if youre planning on studying something particular and you are planning to apply to top universities. Though I did pick AS Philosophy first time around and hated it, luckily I got a C in it but grrr was 3 marks off a B because I didn't read the paper properly and answered all the questions instead of 2! how annoying! I loved A Level Psychology, I got a B in it, was a bit gutted cos I missed my final exams for it it due to being in intensive care otherwise I might have got a A. Simi x |

Nice, my sister did physcology and found it really hard but her and my other sister are both unfairly clever. The eldest has just finished her first year doing law at uni, and got the highest mark in one of her papers in the whole year!! And the other got 4 As at AS. Its soooo not fair! |

I am going to take Chemistry, Human Biology and Sociology. I already have an A Level in Psychology, so because of that and because of my asthma my college said I only have to do 3 AS Levels instead of the typical 4 they expect normally. Simi x |

I'm restarting my A Levels because my asthma is so stupid that either I have been ending up in hospital alot or else I am chronically bad throughout the year and in exams so I took a gap year out to take a break. simi x |

We had a sports college status :P My idea of hell. And my tutor was head of PE. Where I'm at school (well, sixth form) now is a language college, which is much better! |

We have to do a dt and language but thats only because our school has language and technology status, which sounds kind of posh but it just means thats where all our funding comes from. So if we didn't all take it the school would be poor, which may be good becuase the red hats my go . Sorry im rambling too Adios! |

Looking back I do regret taking Applied Health and Social Care instead of taking History and Music as I was projected to do alot better in those but I was bullied in History so I swapped to Health and Social Care. I took French, Design & Technology, Double Award Science, Maths, English, English Literature, Religious Studies short course errrrm what else think that's it or I have forgot something. simi x |

I only took my GCSEs in 2008, but a language wasn't compulsary then. We were advised to take a language, a tech, an art and a humanities subject but weren't forced (except where I was advised against taking any tech :P). |

We have to do it as one of our options though which sucks a bit but at least we have it as an option, i think all schools have to offer it now though becuase of the big national 'science and maths push' x |

Your teachers seem dedicated! We only get two options (though we have to do a lanugage and d.t as well) and they persuade us not too, if theres not a full class they don't run the subject! |
